Baseball Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. Otay Ranch Mustangs

For the second straight game, Hilltop will face off against Otay Ranch. The Lancers will head out to take on the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilltop's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Otay Ranch's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hilltop fell victim to Otay Ranch and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lancers have suffered since April 23rd.

For Otay Ranch's part, Sebastian Magana tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. What's more, Magana posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Otay Ranch's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Regan Felix, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The win (which was Otay Ranch's third in a row) raised their record to 21-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hilltop, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-18 record.
