Softball Recap: Scripps Ranch Comes Up Short

Scripps Ranch blew Canyon Hills out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Canyon Hills got their revenge. The Falcons fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 8th.

Scripps Ranch got a good showing from Kenzie Johnson, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Scripps Ranch saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alina Grady, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Scripps Ranch and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Canyon Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Scripps Ranch will square off against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chieftains will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Canyon Hills, they will challenge Mira Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marauders will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Rattlers surely won't give up without a fight.
