Softball Recap: Carlsbad Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Carlsbad couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Cibola Cougars by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Cavemen/Cavegirls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Carlsbad saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katrina Ortega, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Faith Rivera was another, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Carlsbad's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-8. As for Cibola, they pushed their record up to 24-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Carlsbad does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cibola, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-1 defeat against Las Cruces on the 16th.
