Baseball Game Preview: Corvallis Blue Devils vs. Florence-Carlton Falcons

Corvallis hasn't had much luck against Florence-Carlton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the Falcons at 3:00 p.m.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Corvallis nor Frenchtown made it on the board until the eighth inning. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Broncs by a score of 2-1. The loss leaves the Blue Devils still looking for their first win of the season.

Corvallis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bridger Huddleton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Huddleton's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Florence-Carlton faced Stevensville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Falcons blew past the Yellowjackets 12-0. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Mason Arlington, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Hinsdale, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Florence-Carlton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Florence-Carlton and bumps their season record up to 4-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Corvallis, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Corvallis couldn't quite get it done against Florence-Carlton in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 8-3. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
