Softball Game Preview: New Trier Trevians vs. Maine South Hawks

New Trier hasn't had much luck against Maine South recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Trevians will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 4:45 p.m. Maine South took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on New Trier, who comes in off a win.

New Trier barely beat Evanston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trevians were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Wildkits on Tuesday. The Trevians haven't had any issues with the Wildkits recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Maine South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Glenbrook South. Hawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Titans since on Tuesday.

Peyton Santore was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Christina Piotrowski, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Maine South's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for New Trier, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

New Trier suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Maine South in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Trevians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
