The Central Dragons will face off against the Somerset Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Bishop Carroll. With that victory, the Dragons brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
The result came thanks to Brody Mellott's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cody Clapper was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Adam Loucks was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Somerset came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Panthers 10-4.
The team relied heavily on Braeden Flower, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Elliott Anderson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Central's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Somerset, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Somerset struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central skirted past Somerset 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
