Basketball Recap: Vincennes Rivet Comes Up Short

Vincennes Rivet played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Barr-Reeve Vikings, falling 55-33. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th in Indiana, while the Vikings are ranked 117th in Indiana).

Leading Barr-Reeve to victory were Kierson Lengacher and Landon Miller. Lengacher went 7-for-13 on his way to 20 points and four steals, while Miller posted 13 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Those 20 points gave Lengacher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Korben Boyd, who earned six points.

Vincennes Rivet has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. The win (which was Barr-Reeve's 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Vincennes Rivet has already played their next game, a 63-49 victory against Evansville Day on the 22nd. As for Barr-Reeve, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-48 defeat against Southridge on the 22nd.
