Softball Recap: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Takes a Loss

Paxton-Buckley-Loda had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it nine. They lost 12-1 to the Prairie Central Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 17-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hallee Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

As for Prairie Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-13. Considering they have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Prairie Central's side, Dixie Hogan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Slagel, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Slagel, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Paxton-Buckley-Loda will square off against Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Prairie Central, they will take on Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Minutemen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.7 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
