Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Brook Spartans vs. Eastside Eagles

The Mountain Brook Spartans and the Eastside Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Eastside took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mountain Brook, who comes in off a win.

Eastside is hoping to do what Hueytown couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Mountain Brook's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Mountain Brook came out on top against Hueytown by a score of 48-37. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Eastside's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a blow against North Oconee, falling 70-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 28, 2023.

Mountain Brook's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
