Baseball Recap: Lubbock T Takes a Loss

Lubbock T extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Midland Classical Academy Knights. The shutout was out of character for the Titans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

As for Midland Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly ten runs.

For Midland Classical Academy's part, Cam Gilbert was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Gilbert a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Midland Classical Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 8-11 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Gabe Catalano looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Henry Friez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Midland Classical Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-3 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Bayley, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Lubbock T will head out on the road to square off against Crosbyton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland Classical Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
