Softball Recap: Eaton Drops Season-High Score on Oakwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eaton). They blew past the Oakwood Lumberjacks 17-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024 (when they won 15-0).

Ella Statzer was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Redick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Eaton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakwood struck out eight times.

Eaton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oakwood, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Eaton will take on Newton Local at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakwood, they will square off against Valley View at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.18 runs per game on average), something the Lumberjacks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
