Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Burges

Burges won against Clint on Saturday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Burges Mustangs came out on top against the San Elizario Eagles by a score of 10-6. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won five games in a row.

The team relied heavily on Valeria Sanchez, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Breann Mendoza, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Burges always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

The victory got Burges back to even at 7-7. As for San Elizario, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burges will venture away from home to square off against Hanks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanks knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Burges likes a good challenge. As for San Elizario, they will head out on the road to take on El Paso at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
