Volleyball Recap: Gorton Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gorton had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Barack Obama School for Social Justice Lightning. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Gorton's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.

Gorton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Katie Rojas out in front who had seven digs, six kills, and six aces. Rojas is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served four or more in each of the last five games she's played. Emma Ramirez was another key player, getting 15 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Gorton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 17 aces in three consecutive matches.

Gorton's record is now 5-1. As for Barack Obama School for Social Justice, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Gorton has already played their next game (against Saunders Trades & Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Barack Obama School for Social Justice, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Greenburgh-North Castle on the 18th.
