Basketball Game Preview: Vista del Lago Eagles vs. Bella Vista Broncos

The Vista del Lago Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Bella Vista Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Wednesday, Vista del Lago was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-61 to Ponderosa. The Eagles have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Bella Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 53-43 to Woodcreek. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 61st).

Vista del Lago will have to contain Jonah Wooden as he made an impact in Bella Vista's last game. He went 7-for-17 on his way to 20 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Wooden a new career-high in points. Cael Bird was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bella Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodcreek only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Bella Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Vista del Lago, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Vista del Lago strolled past Bella Vista in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 59-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vista del Lago since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
