The Rainier Christian Mustangs suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. Their rough 49-27 loss to Evergreen Lutheran might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Rainier Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Evergreen Lutheran is ranked 133rd).
Rainier Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gracie Cushman, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luci Ramey, who scored nine points.
Rainier Christian dropped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.7 points per game. As for Evergreen Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rainier Christian will take on Pope John Paul II at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pope John Paul II is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Evergreen Lutheran, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Concordia Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. Concordia Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
