Softball Recap: Alexandria Now 13-2 over Last 15 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pineville, Alexandria was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Glenmora Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Ella Melder and Mary Claire Brinkman were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Melder tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brinkman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single walk in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Melder went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Brinkman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Amiyah Wilson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Turner, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Alexandria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Alexandria is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Glenmora, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Looking ahead, Alexandria will challenge Calvary Baptist Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Glenmora, they will head out to face off against Singer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
