Baseball Recap: Pojoaque Valley Takes a Loss

Pojoaque Valley extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 6-18 in the process. They came up short against the Taos Tigers, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Elks/Elkettes couldn't push the score so high this time.

Pojoaque Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Andres Trevizo was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

As for Taos, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 12-2).

On Taos' side, Christian Fresquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Fresquez posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Miguel Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mario Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pojoaque Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Moriarty at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Taos will take on rival Los Alamos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
