Softball Recap: Manteo Has No Trouble Against Northeastern

Manteo never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over the Northeastern Eagles. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Makenna Gray was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gray was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bridgett Berry, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Creef, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Manteo now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northeastern, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteo will square off against Holmes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Holmes' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Northeastern, they will challenge Cape Hatteras at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Northeastern has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
