Basketball Game Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. Damonte Ranch Mustangs

McQueen is 2-8 against Damonte Ranch since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The McQueen Lancers are taking a road trip to face off against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 7:30 p.m.

McQueen will head into Friday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 68-34 defeat at the hands of Bishop Manogue. The matchup marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Alex Hancock put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 11 points and four steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch blew past Reno, posting a 62-35 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

McQueen better keep an eye on Drew Dodson. He was instrumental in Damonte Ranch's win, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Dodson's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jeriah Macias was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

McQueen's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Damonte Ranch, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Things could have been worse for McQueen, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 98-80 loss to Damonte Ranch in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Macias, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight assists and five boards. Now that McQueen knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
