Baseball Game Preview: Riverdale Ridge Ravens vs. Boulder Panthers

The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will take on the Boulder Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boulder took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Riverdale Ridge, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Riverdale Ridge made easy work of Westminster and carried off a 15-3 victory. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Jayce Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Riverdale Ridge let Joaquin Alferez and Colton Lancaster run wild. Alferez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Lancaster went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave Alferez a new career-high. Josiah Castro was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Boulder lost 15-4 to Prairie View on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled against the Thunderhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Daniel Melvin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Riverdale Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Boulder, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-7.
