Basketball Recap: Watseka Comes Up Short on the Road Against South Newton

Watseka had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 51-34 bruising from the South Newton Rebels on Tuesday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

South Newton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colton Marks out in front who went 7-for-13 on his way to 17 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Marks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Armstrong, who shot 56% from the field en route to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Watseka will venture away from home to square off against Clifton Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Newton, they will take on Clinton Central at 7:00 p.m. on December 3.
