Softball Game Preview: South Granville Vikings vs. Roxboro Community Bulldogs

The South Granville Vikings will take on the Roxboro Community Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, South Granville was able to grind out a solid win over Falls Lake, taking the game 7-3.

Chaleigh Currin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Tiatana Bates was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Avery Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, everything went Roxboro Community's way against Wakefield on Monday as Roxboro Community made off with an 8-2 victory.

The win got South Granville back to even at 1-1. As for Roxboro Community, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

South Granville suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Roxboro Community in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can South Granville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
