Basketball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Trinity Prep's Winning Streak

Trinity Prep's game on Monday was all tied up 23-23 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Christian Academy Lions. Trinity Prep's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Trinity Prep lost, don't look at Gerald Layne. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Layne's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Beau Blocker was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Reed Carson was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 14 on his way to 28 points for Westminster Christian Academy. Another player making a difference was Ethan Townsend, who posted 13 points along with six boards and four blocks.

Trinity Prep's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Westminster Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Trinity Prep has already played their next match, a 72-67 defeat against Alleluia Community on the 14th. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-35 victory against Monsignor Donovan Catholic on the 14th.
