Football Game Preview: Coppell Cowboys vs. Marcus Marauders

Two dominant signal callers in Carter Zingelmann and Colton Nussmeier are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Coppell Cowboys will venture away from home to challenge the Marcus Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coppell will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Coppell's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Flower Mound, posting a 35-0 win. The game marked the Cowboys' most dominant victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Marcus had just enough and edged out Little Elm 26-24 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Marauders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Lobos are ranked 441st).

Marcus' win came from a few key players Coppell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Peyton Belton, who rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 58 yards. Jameson Mayfield also made an appearance on special teams (luckily for Marcus): his a 46-yard strike wound up winning them the game.

Coppell's record now sits at 7-1. As for Marcus, their record is now 5-3.

Coppell strolled past Marcus in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 47-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cowboys since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
