Basketball Game Preview: East Duplin Panthers vs. Northeastern Eagles

Two dominant guards in Kinsey Cave and Jada Simpson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The East Duplin Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northeastern Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Duplin is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 15 games.

East Duplin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Southwest Onslow with a 44-39 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Stallions are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Northeastern on Friday. They blew past Whiteville 59-33. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

East Duplin pushed their record up to 24-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points over those games. As for Northeastern, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
