Recap: Neumann Celtics vs. Monsignor Pace Spartans

After a string of ten wins, the Neumann Celtics's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Monsignor Pace. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Neumann has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Neumann lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sophia McCartney. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds. The match was McCartney's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Mylee Van de wouw was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Neumann were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monsignor Pace only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Monsignor Pace's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Catherine Guillaume, who scored 20 points. The game was Guillaume's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alessandra Bonilla, who scored 15 points.

Neumann's defeat dropped their record down to 10-1. As for Monsignor Pace, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1-1.

Neumann and Lemon Bay will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lemon Bay will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Neumann is ranked 28th). Monsignor Pace will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Boca Raton at 2:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
