Basketball Recap: Newnan Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Newnan on Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 52-40 victory over the Callaway Cavaliers. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 445th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Callaway still got an impressive performance from Landon Thomas, who posted six points along with 14 boards and three blocks. Those 14 boards gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden James, who had eight points.

Newnan's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Callaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Newnan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-46 victory against Banneker on the 7th. As for Callaway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-47 loss against Westside on the 7th.
