Santa Teresa recap November 5, 2013
Live Oak extended the longest winning streak in Santa Teresa this week by beating Lincoln, 24-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Westmont moved up to 735 from 774 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors were able to move up by topping Silver Creek 33-14.
Trevor Bearden was a beast in the backfield as Live Oak topped the Lions.
Elijah Mosley was a key player and the best on defense this week as Leigh bested Evergreen Valley. He forced 1 fumble and racked up 2 sacks.
Julian Gutierrez threw for 42 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Bearden was a passing and rushing force as Mike Gemo's team defeated Lincoln. Bearden's favorite target this week was Cole Griffin, who caught 3 passes for 74 yards.
Gutierrez put up the best numbers through the air as Gunderson beat San Jose.
The Longhorns' Spencer Barnes and Brian Galvan led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Barnes has thrown for 1,196 yards this season, while Galvan has 29 catches for 410 yards. The Acorns' Bearden leads the league in rushing yards with 2,123.
Leigh's Sean Cosentino is a mere 79 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 125 carries Cosentino has put up 921 yards this year.
A big matchup in Santa Teresa this week will be when Eric Buran's team takes on Kyle Padia's team. At the moment, the Warriors are in third, while the Longhorns are in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Westmont takes on Leigh. The Warriors have allowed 128 points this season, while the Longhorns have given up 79. Westmont allowed 14 points last week as it topped the Raiders.

Leigh took down the Cougars 49-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cosentino ran for 163 yards in the win.
