Baseball Recap: Whitehaven Has No Trouble Against Sheffield

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against White Station, Whitehaven was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Sheffield Knights 10-2. Considering the Tigers have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew Robinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Robinson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jaylon Dodson was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ramar Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Whitehaven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They are 3-1-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Whitehaven's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4-1. As for Sheffield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-2 record this season.

Whitehaven will head out to take on Germantown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sheffield, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Memphis Business Academy at 4:00 p.m. The Execs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
