Baseball Game Preview: Ottoville Big Green vs. Leipsic Vikings

Ottoville is 0-3 against Leipsic since May of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Big Green will head out to challenge the Vikings at 5:00 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Ottoville's offense. They came up short against Ottawa-Glandorf on Monday, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Big Green's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leipsic). They put the hurt on Ada with a sharp 16-2 win on Monday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

John Dewar was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Tyler Lammers was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myles Camareno, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Leipsic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ada only posted an OBP of .391.

Ottoville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Leipsic, their record is now 8-4.

Ottoville might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Leipsic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Big Green avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
