Preview: Holyoke Purple Knights vs. Springfield International

Holyoke has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. After both having extra time off, they and Springfield International will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Thursday, Holyoke suffered a tough 50-24 loss at the hands of Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holyoke has scored all season.

Meanwhile, Springfield International unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak two weeks ago. The match between them and Central wasn't particularly close, with Springfield International falling 59-41. While losing is never fun, Springfield International can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Central is ranked third).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Giavanna Mars and Jai-lyn Garvin-martin. Garvin-martin had a solid game and scored nine points along with two steals. Meanwhile, Mars did her best for the losing side, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Holyoke's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Springfield International, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Things could have been worse for Holyoke, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to Springfield International in their previous matchup back in January. Will Holyoke have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
