They all won in the opening round, but it wasn't so easy for No. 2 Katy, which was involved in the only close game among the nationally ranked.
The Tigers took the lead for the first time in the fourth quarter and didn't look back. They outscored Ridge Point 21-7 in the second half and won 35-28. Up next for the Tigers is No. 11 Cy-Fair, which cruised to a 65-20 win over Bellaire.
The 6A Division 2 bracket is also one of the top toughest in the land. Longview looks to defend its state title in the ultra competitive 64-team tournament and rolled to a 41-10 win over Temple in the opening round.
No. 25 Fort Bend Travis (Richmond) was the only Top 25 team to lose and it lost to No. 24 Tompkins (Katy) on Thursday night, 35-28.
