Softball Preview: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Wheatmore Warriors
Eastern Randolph is 10-0 against Wheatmore since April of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Eastern Randolph Wildcats will be playing at home against the Wheatmore Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Eastern Randolph can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They never let North Davidson onto the board and left with a 9-0 victory.
Addie Flinchum made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Flinchum has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings every time she's pitched this season. Flinchum was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
In other batting news, Ziera Watson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Meanwhile, Wheatmore entered their tilt with Randleman with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers on Tuesday and snuck past 5-3.
Carmen Turgeon spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skylar Pittman, who went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Arielle Turgeon, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
The win got Eastern Randolph back to even at 5-5. As for Wheatmore, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
