Softball Recap: Hueytown Victorious

Hueytown came out on top against Jasper on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Golden Gophers skirted past the Vikings 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Golden Gophers: when they faced off against the Vikings back in March, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

Bryanna Kemp made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Kemp was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on S Dyson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Hueytown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Hueytown's record is now 21-12. As for Jasper, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 18-10 record.

Hueytown has already played their next match, a 12-1 win against Oak Grove on the 15th. As for Jasper, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against Northside on the 11th.
