Preview: Grenada Chargers vs. Olive Branch Conquistadors

The Grenada Chargers and the Olive Branch Conquistadors will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Grenada has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 318 points over their last five contests.

Even though South Panola scored an imposing 66 points on Tuesday, Grenada still came out on top. Grenada had just enough and edged the Tigers out 68-66. Given Grenada's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Tigers are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grenada's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Howard, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds. Howard is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jarques Perry, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Olive Branch put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Lake Cormorant, posting a 83-55 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Olive Branch sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

The win got Grenada back to even at 11-11. As for Olive Branch, their victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5.

Grenada was dealt a bruising 88-61 loss at the hands of the Conquistadors in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Grenada avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
