Basketball Recap: South Bend Career Academy Comes Up Short

South Bend Career Academy lost against Elkhart Christian Academy back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers were outmatched by the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles and fell 62-15. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Eagles are ranked 126th).

Despite the defeat, South Bend Career Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Muliyah Kelley posted nine points.

Elkhart Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ivy Clapsaddle, who went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points and four steals. Clapsaddle is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Yordy, who had eight points along with five assists and five steals.

South Bend Career Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

South Bend Career Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-18 loss against Knox on the 7th. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 54-14 victory against Trinity Greenlawn on the 4th.
