Softball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen Extends Winning Streak to Four

Waynesfield-Goshen had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came out on top against North Baltimore by a score of 7-4. For Waynesfield-Goshen, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 win North Baltimore walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Tarynn Vorhes made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Makenna Shaw was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Abbi Brown was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Waynesfield-Goshen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

Waynesfield-Goshen's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for North Baltimore, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.

Looking ahead, Waynesfield-Goshen will welcome Upper Scioto Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Baltimore, they will venture away from home to challenge Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
