Basketball Recap: Compass Academy Victorious

There's no place like home for Compass Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 46-45 victory over the Kermit Yellow Jackets. For Compass Academy, this counts as revenge for the 57-30 win Kermit walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Kermit still got an impressive performance from Diego Juarez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Those 20 points gave Juarez a new career-high. Brayden Pando was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Compass Academy now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Kermit, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Compass Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lamesa at 7:30 p.m. Compass Academy is facing Lamesa at the right time seeing as Lamesa is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Kermit, they will head out to challenge IDEA Mesa Hills at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
