Baseball Game Preview: East Wilkes Cardinals vs. North Stokes Vikings

The East Wilkes Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against the North Stokes Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

East Wilkes was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Wilkes Central 8-6. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, North Stokes got themselves on the board against East Wilkes on Tuesday, but East Wilkes never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Cardinals. Considering the Vikings have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elijah Whicker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Michael Frye was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Jackson Lester was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

North Stokes' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-6. As for East Wilkes, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

East Wilkes might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from North Stokes when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
