Basketball Recap: Sumner Stingrays vs. Southeast Seminoles

Sumner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 85-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southeast Seminoles.

Southeast found their leader in sophomore Jalen Byrd, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Byrd has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jakyrin Smith, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points.

Sumner's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Southeast, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-7.

Sumner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 76-72 defeat against Venice on the 20th. Southeast has also already played their next game, a 70-21 win against IMG Academy Silver on the 20th.
