Basketball Recap: St. Thomas Episcopal Victorious

St. Thomas Episcopal won the last time they faced Marian and things went their way on Saturday too. The Saints walked away with a 66-54 victory over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Marian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lamonte Butler, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Butler is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 6-3 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Masule, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

St. Thomas Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Marian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

St. Thomas Episcopal will take on Lutheran South Academy in a tournament on the 29th. As for Marian, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. John's at 7:00 p.m. on January 20, 2026.
