Baseball Recap: Powhatan Gets the Win

Powhatan proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by nine) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Prince George Royals, sneaking past 4-2. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Powhatan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Prince George, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Powhatan will head out to square off against Monacan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Prince George, they will be playing at home against Meadowbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Monarchs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
