Softball Game Preview: Licking Heights Hornets vs. Buckeye Valley Barons

The Licking Heights Hornets will challenge the Buckeye Valley Barons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Licking Heights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Things were looking good for Licking Heights after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Heath by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

Licking Heights got a massive performance out of Alissa West, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Anderson, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Buckeye Valley came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Falcons 15-3. Considering the Barons have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Buckeye Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Licking Heights, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
