Softball Recap: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Comes Up Short

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy came into this matchup off a tough 14-run defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Pomona Catholic Pacers by a score of 12-10 on Wednesday. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pacers earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Aaliyah Medina and Belinda Sierra did some serious damage despite the final result: Medina fired off two home runs, four RBI, and two doubles while going 4-for-5, while Sierra went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Medina is on a roll when it comes to doubles, as she's now hit two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Julissa Perez was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-10. As for Pomona Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.

As of now, neither St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy nor the Pacers have any future games scheduled.
