Elbert and Pikes Peak Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Elbert Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pikes Peak Christian will be up against a hot Elbert squad: the team just extended their winning streak to nine. Elbert simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Briggsdale 58-24. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Falcons are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Ethan Tesman, who went 11 for 15 on his way to 26 points along with eight boards and four steals. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Cornell, who went 5 of 10 to rack up 10 points and eight rebounds.
Elbert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pikes Peak Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Dolores Huerta Prep 66-28 on Tuesday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-11.
Elbert better keep an eye on Eddie Harmon. He was instrumental in Pikes Peak Christian's win, going 8 for 12 en route to 17 points and seven boards. Harmon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. Max Singler was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.
Elbert pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points over those games. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Elbert has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Pikes Peak Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 40.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
