Byron Center took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Jenison, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Wildcats on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matchups in a row.

The win didn't come easy: Jenison scored at least 12 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 15-12.

When it comes to explaining why Jenison lost, don't look at Rylee Fennema. Despite the final result, she had 25 digs and five assists.

Byron Center's victory bumped their record up to 24-4. As for Jenison, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 27-4-1.

Byron Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Bronson on the 18th. As for Jenison, they will square off against Muskegon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
