Basketball Recap: Midview Comes Up Short

Midview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Avon Eagles 65-31. The contest marked the Middies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Middies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Newton, who went 5 for 12 to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds. Xavier Young was another key player, putting up nine points.

Midview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Avon, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8.

Midview and Avon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Midview will square off against Olmsted Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 521 places (723 vs. 202). Similarly, Avon (ranked 262nd) will meet Highland (ranked 89th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
