Basketball Recap: Liberty Common Wins Going Away Against Lyons

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Highland, Liberty Common was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lyons Lions as the Liberty Common Eagles made off with a 51-27 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.

Lyons' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Vasquez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. Vasquez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last four games she's played.

The victory got Liberty Common back to even at 5-5. As for Lyons, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Liberty Common will square off against Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Liberty Common's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Frontier Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Lyons, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-34 win against Front Range Christian on the 17th.
