There's little consensus as to which team is America's best in 2014.
Allen, Bishop Gorman and De La Salle all have compelling cases for No. 1.

took home the top spot in the
Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings;
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), the No. 1 spot in the
MaxPreps Computers Rankings.
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) meanwhile claimed the
MaxPreps Composite Rankings national championship.
So, which team is really No. 1?
All three certainly have merit.
Allen is in the midst of run of dominance in Texas that is one of the most impressive in state history. It closed the season with a 6A-I state title by beating DeSoto, Arlington Martin, Euless Trinity, Skyline and Cypress Ranch--a true gauntlet of bona fide Texas powers.
Bishop Gorman sought to challenge itself this season, scheduling the best teams it could. It emerged unscathed against the likes of St. John Bosco, Bingham and Corona Centennial and went on to capture a Nevada state title.
De La Salle did what De La Salle almost always does: dominated NorCal opponents during the regular season and delivered a convincing victory in the CIF Bowl Games. It downed Corona Centennial 63-42 for an Open Division title.
So who was the nation's best high school football team in 2014: Allen, Bishop Gorman, or De La Salle?
Or does another team, like
Folsom (Calif.) or
Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.), deserve consideration?
