Basketball Game Preview: Westinghouse Bulldogs vs. Taylor Allderdice Dragons

Westinghouse hasn't had much luck against Taylor Allderdice recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Westinghouse Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Taylor Allderdice Dragons at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Westinghouse was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-56 to Perry Traditional Academy.

Meanwhile, Taylor Allderdice beat Chartiers Valley 72-63 on Sunday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Dragons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Colts are ranked 36th).

Westinghouse better keep an eye on Lukas Stead. He was instrumental in Taylor Allderdice's win, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Stead a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Asher Schwartz, who went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points along with seven assists and seven boards.

Taylor Allderdice was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 20 assists in three consecutive matchups.

Taylor Allderdice is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Westinghouse, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Westinghouse took a serious blow against Taylor Allderdice when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 105-33. Thankfully for Westinghouse, Logan Golle (who shot 5-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten assists) won't be suiting up this time.
